Badir Program signs MoU with Jordan’s Propeller for startup…

 King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), represented by Badir Program for Technology Incubators and Accelerators, and Propeller Inc., a Jordan-based startup accelerator focused on technology, product and design, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost startup collaboration between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

Saudi-based biotech startups raise $10 million

Saudi-based biotechnology (biotech) startups incubated by Badir Biotech Incubator, under the Badir Program raised close to $10 million last year in new funding that was led by venture capital firms, individual investor networks and governmental institutions.

Individual investment in these projects accounted for 5.3 per cent of the total investment while venture capital companies contributed with 90 per cent of the total amount of financing and investment into biotech startups.

Badir-incubated tech startups raise $29.32m in 2018

Technology startups incubated by the Badir Program for Technology Incubators and Accelerators, one of the leading initiatives of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), closed 2018 on a record high note, raising nearly SR 110 million ($29.32 million ) across 63 funding deals.

Individual investors topped the list of funding deals, followed by private companies, venture capital firms and governmental institutions.

Health hackathon puts digital health under the microscope

Riyadh: 02 December 2018 - Thousands of young Saudis, including doctors, engineers, students and researchers, competed to develop technical innovations that improve medical services as part of a health care innovation hackathon at Princess Nourah University in Riyadh.

The three-day hackathon, one of the largest in the world in health care, ended on Saturday with a closing ceremony attended by Dr. Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed, president of King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), and Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.
